International politics refers to the interactions between foreign states. It covers the bilateral relations and the activities of global organizations that facilitate these interactions. International politics has come a long way since the most recent world war, and it is essential to recognize the place of history in these advancements.

Since history provides useful information about the origin, background, and beliefs of individual states, the study of history helps create better international policies. Many international organizations were created to combat challenges like epidemics, famine, and wars. History makes it possible for one to understand the foundation and operations of these organizations.
Lessons learned from history have also inspired the creation of several international peacekeeping organizations to facilitate peaceful coexistence between member states and advocate conflict de-escalation. Many international organizations are committed to punishing the perpetrators and providing justice to victims of genocide and gender-based violence. The study of history contributes significantly to the proper functioning of these organizations.
